Our Livestock Team

Experienced people who care about cattle

Most of our team have been raised on or have cattle properties of their own. They’re talented and passionate people who value relationships, love our industry and respect animals through and through. These values were established early on by the four founding Teys brothers, and today are championed by Geoff Teys, a second generation Teys family member, with more than 50 years’ experience in the Aussie cattle industry.

Our livestock team draws on rich agricultural and animal science backgrounds, and a lifetime of experience supporting producers.

Grasslands

Grasslands is a premium, natural range underpinned by the Grasslands Pasturefed Standard. This standard focuses on three key areas:

  1. Traceability and Quality System – All cattle must be fully lifetime traceable, so that we can be sure raising claims are verified from birth. Cattle must also be Meat Standards Australia (MSA) eligible.
  2. Grass fed – All cattle must be lifetime free from a diet of grain and grain by-products. Cattle must never be confined for the purpose of intensive feeding and must have free access to graze in open pastures.
  3. Animal Production – All cattle must be completely free from any added hormones or antibiotics.

Animal Welfare

Maintaining the highest animal welfare practices

We are committed to maintaining the highest animal welfare practices across our entire supply chain. That’s why it’s important every producer we work with shares our standards and meets our Vendor Animal Welfare Requirements.

Our strong relationships with our Aussie producers, suppliers, and transporters mean we can make sure that the best practice animal welfare standards are always upheld.

“Having a cattle property of my own really helps me relate to our producers. We’ve faced the same trials and tribulations, so I understand where they’re coming from and what they want out of their relationship with Teys.”
